With Autonomous, another $100 can buy a better-fitting desk or features you may not use. The difference depends on the model step.
The Desk Core starts with a compact 48-by-24-inch surface. The larger Desk 2 adds room between the keyboard and monitor. Further up the range, Pro AI reaches a much lower seated position than the regular Pro. Those are quite different reasons to spend more.
The current US configurations below are compared by published specifications. We have not tested these desks for wobble, noise, or long-term reliability.
What $349, $449, $499 and $599 buy
The prices below were displayed on Autonomous’s US store on September 16, 2026, for the specified complete desks, before tax and optional extras. A larger top or different finish can change the total. These are dated comparison prices, not a live offer.
| Desk and selected configuration | Displayed price | What changes at this step? |
|---|---|---|
| Desk Core 48 × 24 in, Meteor Gray | $349 | The compact entry option; single motor |
| Desk 2 53 × 29 in, white top/white frame | $449 +$100 over Core | Five more inches of width and depth; dual motors and a longer frame warranty |
| Desk Pro 53 × 29 in, Pearl White | $499 +$50 over Desk 2 | Same chosen footprint; 330-lb rating, C-frame and lifetime frame warranty |
| Desk Pro AI 53 × 29 in, Pearl White | $599 +$100 over Pro | A lower minimum and taller maximum, 450-lb rating and environmental sensors |

Height deserves its own comparison. Core’s range explicitly includes its top, and Pro AI’s description specifies floor-to-work-surface height. Desk 2’s current panel leaves that convention unclear.
| Model | Height range | Rated load | Frame warranty |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core | 29.4–47.5 in, with top | 176 lb | 2 years |
| Desk 2 | 27.2–46.5 in listed; finished height unconfirmed | 250 lb | 10 years |
| Pro | 29.5–48.5 in listed | 330 lb | Lifetime |
| Pro AI | 24.25–53.5 in, floor to work surface | 450 lb | Lifetime |

Core: the compact $349 option
Core makes sense when a smaller desk is the attraction. Its 48-by-24-inch top leaves more of the room available than a 53-by-29-inch desk. With a compact keyboard and a monitor stand that fits your layout, that may be all the surface you want.
The useful question is what occupies the front-to-back space. A deep monitor base and an open notebook can quickly compete with the keyboard on a shallow top. If that sounds like your setup, our desk-depth guide helps map the space before you move up a size.
The other deciding number is the 29.4-inch minimum with the top fitted. If you already need your keyboard surface below that, the compact footprint alone will not solve the fit. Look at Pro AI’s lower range or the cross-brand minimum-height comparison.

Moving to the selected Desk 2 adds five inches in both directions. That is roughly one-third more surface area: 1,537 rather than 1,152 square inches, calculated from Autonomous’s published dimensions for Desk 2 and Core.
The depth is likely to be the more noticeable change if your screen base and keyboard are crowding each other. The extra width can give a notebook or laptop its own space beside the main input area. This is the upgrade to consider when the problem is a cramped surface.
Desk 2 also lists dual motors, a 250-pound load rating and a 10-year frame warranty. Those are concrete specification changes; we have no same-condition test establishing how much steadier or quieter it is than Core. Desk 2 specifications
One detail remains unresolved for shoppers who need a low seated position: the current specification panel lists 27.2–46.5 inches without clearly saying whether the top is included. Ask Autonomous for the finished minimum height of the selected configuration before ordering if this is close to your required keyboard height. Do not assume that 27.2 inches is the final work-surface height.

At the checked prices, Pro costs $50 more than the selected Desk 2 while keeping the same 53-by-29-inch footprint. Autonomous lists a C-frame, a 330-pound rating and a lifetime frame warranty; the top has a separate two-year warranty. Pro specifications
For a heavy setup, the higher rating may earn that extra cost. For a lighter setup, the decision is more about the frame design, finish and warranty coverage. You receive the same amount of desktop space in these two configurations.
Pro’s listed minimum is 29.5 inches, so it does not reach a lower surface than Core. If height is the reason for upgrading, compare the AI configuration separately.
Autonomous US storeDesk ProThe regular Pro configuration: 53 × 29-inch top, 330-pound rating and lifetime frame warranty.See Pro configurations →Pro AI: the upgrade that lowers the desk
The name draws attention to sensors, but the height range may matter more to your working day. Autonomous specifies 24.25–53.5 inches from floor to work surface for Pro AI. Compared with Pro’s listed 29.5-inch minimum, that is a substantial change in the seated position the desk can reach.
At the checked $599 price, the extra $100 over Pro buys that wider range, a 450-pound rating, and environmental sensors. The sensors include CO₂ and particulate sensing. Their usefulness and accuracy do not establish whether the desk fits you, and we have not tested the sensors or their health-related implications.
If your required surface height falls below the other models’ ranges, Pro AI is the first configuration here with a clearly documented lower floor-to-surface minimum. If regular Pro already reaches your chosen seated and standing positions, the sensors and extra rated capacity need to earn the upgrade on their own.
Delivery may change the choice. On September 16, the selected Pro AI showed an October 30 shipping estimate, while regular Pro showed September 18. These are the dates displayed by the configurator, not guaranteed arrival dates.
Autonomous US storeDesk Pro AIA documented 24.25-inch minimum work-surface height. Check the selected configuration's shipping date.See Pro AI configurations →Before ordering: the trial and delivery date
It helps to have a realistic route back if the desk feels wrong once assembled. Autonomous’s customer-policy summary describes a 30-day trial on most products and asks buyers to keep the original packaging. It lists exceptions including tabletop-only purchases, oversized desks and bulk orders; it also says returns are unavailable in Hawaii and Alaska.
The Core page specifically excludes flash-sale and limited-time deals from its trial. A promotional price can therefore change more than the amount paid. Check that the exact order qualifies, and keep the boxes until you have decided to keep the desk.
For the selection itself, start with the space you want on top. Core is the compact path; Desk 2 adds meaningful room for another $100 at these prices. Then look at height: Pro’s frame package and Pro AI’s lower range solve different needs. Choosing the upgrade that addresses your actual constraint is more useful than simply buying the highest model name.
